Change is good, yes?

So Swap Mamas is off to a great start, thanks in big part to all of YOU! If you haven’t joined yet, um … helluu?? Wadda ya waiting for?

Go on! Get your butt over there!

No, seriously.

I’ll wait …

With the exception of the most recent development in my life — that would be The Boy — I’ve been eating, sleeping and breathing Swap Mamas the past few months. And with the whole creative process, sometimes I veer off track.

I’m getting kinda bored with my tagline.

Here’s one idea — just do a little editing.

Or maybe sauce it up a bit.

Perhaps something more Zen.

More Pacino?

Wait for it …

Wait for it …

Take THAT, Google Search Freakshows.

Hell, I already have the hypoallergenic dog …

Foolery did it. So I had to do it.

My slogan was “LET THEM EAT PIE,” but somehow, that didn’t sound right.

Go make your own campaign poster at obamicon.me and if you post it, include linkage in the comments. It’s fun! It’s easy! And best of all, it’s yet ANOTHER way to dick around at work!

Exciting things on the horizon …

I’m having a hard time multi-tasking. I have something in the works, Doogs … something I’m SO excited about, I can barely contain myself. Lately, it’s consumed nearly every thought.

Which is kind of the way I operate. Obsession is my friend. (In other words, Caution: Post Suckage Ahead.)

At any rate, I’m really working hard to try and get it up and running as soon as possible, and I’m crossing my fingers that you’ll love it.

For lack of a decent post, I give you the Jonas Brothers Sing-Along. I know there are more than a few of you who love these guys — sadly, it wouldn’t be right to make fun of you considering my unnatural preoccupation with Edward Cullin. I don’t know the song, so you’re spared the agony of listening to ME sing, but you Closet Karaoke Enthusiasts will enjoy.

A modern day holiday story worth re-telling.

After a long day, some quality time with extended family, and what feels like 12 lbs of Grammy’s cooking settling in my belly, MP and I are home, readying to roll ourselves into bed.

As we read the final story of the night, I held her tight and said a silent prayer of thanks for this beautiful child I adore and can’t imagine life without. This child I love more than life itself.

And my thoughts turned to another blogger, who also has a daughter. Two weeks ago, she reached out across the Blogosphere, in the hopes that someone, somewhere would help save her child’s life. With the outpouring of support I’ve seen all over the Internet this past week, I realize chances are good you’re probably already familiar with her story, but on the off chance you aren’t, I thought I’d share.

She’s come into my thoughts nearly every day since I read this post. I spent two years working in the organ donation industry. I’ve been a passionate advocate for the cause ever since. And three years ago, my SIL donated her kidney to her mother. I had a small idea what this blogger’s daughter may have ahead.

More than that, though, I’m a mom. I couldn’t imagine being in her shoes.

And now, against all odds, it seems her prayers have been answered. What an incredible testament to the power of the Internet, and this amazing community we’re all a part of.

I am in awe.

Today, among many, many other things, I am thankful for connectivity. For all of YOU. And for a renewal of faith that miracles DO happen.

Happy Thanksgiving, Doogs. You rock.

Memorist Giveaway Winners!

First off, let me say, I LOVED reading everyone’s Memorist comments — if past lives DO exist (and you already know I’m a total believer) you guys were a colorful bunch. Thanks so much to everyone for playing along!

Without further ado, I give you the book winners:

Which translates to Laural Out Loud (Comment #8), who spent a past life as a pampered British lady of leisure; and Erin of Irascible Crayons (Comment #20), who most likely spent some time in the 30s or 40s. Congratulations ladies!

Keep checking back — I have some pretty awesome swag to give away in the coming weeks, just in time for the holidays. I’ll give you a hint. It involves really, really cool footwear. And wildlife. And possibly more reading material.

Yee hoo! I feel just like Santa! A girl could get hooked on this Giveaway Gig …

Bad manners and inappropriate behavior involving creepy PBS characters.

So, the other night I was CLEARLY way too high on Halloween candy. I signed up to participate in NaBloPoMo. Which, I’ve always thought sounded weirdly dirty. Like oral sex and Teletubbies.

Truthfully, I never DID know what it stood for until I came across it Friday night. For those of you equally confused, it stands for National Blog Posting Month, and it means I’ve made a commitment to posting EVERY DAY this month.

Told ya. Crack Smoker.

So I get this little badge, and a listing on the NaBloPoMo site, with like, 10,000 other bloggers. Which is good, because now that the Blogger’s Choice Award Winners have been named, and I was NOWHERE CLOSE to winning, I should probably take down those three sad little black buttons right up there. —–>

At least I’ll have my new badge to put up in their place.

And speaking of awards, I’m way overdue in thanking some of you for bestowing some awesome ones upon me. (Wow. Could that sentence be any more awkward?) So overdue, in fact, it’s downright embarrassing. All these bloggers are fantastic — if you’re not already reading them, you gotta check ’em out.

Most recently, Jen at Steenky Bee gave me this:

And Mommy the Robot gave me this:

Morningside Mom gave me this:

Right around the same time, Mamasphere and Ms. Tootsie Farklepants at Vintage Thirty gave me this:

Shit. This is getting embarrasing. Bad, bad, manners, Mommypie.

Then, there was this from Ilina at Dirt and Noise, Toots at Vintage Thirty, Flickrlovr at I’d Blog That, and Jen at Cheaper Than Therapy:

I’m an ass.

Okay, now we’re going back quite a few months. *she says, shrinking into the couch*

Auds at Barking Mad gave me this:

She also gave me this, along with the Monkey Toe Momma herself, Donna Reed in Blue Jeans around the same time:

I think that’s it. I know. I totally suck. I have a sick feeling I’ve forgotten someone — if I did, let me know. I’ll give you my address so you can come over and personally bitchslap me.

As part of the deal, I’m supposed to pass these babies on to some of my favorite bloggers. Tonight, however, because I can’t take the crushing guilt, I just wanted to make sure to acknowledge all the awesome bloggers who thought enough of me to give me some bling. I love you ALL! MWAH!

And at some point, I WILL get these up on my sidebar. Check back in six months. This month I’ll be tied up giving Teletubbies BJs.

Or something like that.

Dreamjob? Ghost Hunter.

In the spirit of the season, I told a real life ghost story over at San Diego Momma’s while she’s away in New York. I’m a little late letting you know, but I reeallly don’t want to be a big fat BOMB on my Blog Buddy’s site, so I’m directing you there.

Buuaaahhhaaahahaha …

I’m back in Blogland! Last Friday’s presentation behind me, I feel like I can finally focus on something other than Powerpoint. I feel like I MAY have actually caught up on some desperately needed sleep.

It went fairly well — aside from the fact that I went 1/2 hour OVER my allotted time. Which is a GOOD sign, right? Oh yeah, and there was only one teensy technical problem.

I had this very cool quick Twitter tutorial all cued up. I clicked on it. And THIS is what started playing.

Yeah, that was a little uncomfortable. SO not what I meant to show.

Anyhoo, thanks for all your words of encouragement, ma Doogs. Have I told you lately that I love you?

In some circles I’m considered an expert. Which is frightening.

Yesterday, my boss came into my office and started asking me about Social Media. Which he’s NEVER done. Convinced I’m totally busted, I’m waiting for “Mommypie” to trip off his tongue any second. He’s been known to snoop on employee’s computers and truth be told, I’m not always the stealthiest. Like the folder titled BLOG. Seriously, it’s just a matter of time.

I steadied myself while the Blog Hog in my head chanted Dooced! Dooced! Dooced! Dooced!

Thankfully, BH was wrong. Conservaboss actually wanted some insight for an upcoming conference, which, pretty much meant the kiss of death for me. Mention anything I’m passionate about and I literally cannot. Shut. Up.

I blabbed about blogging. I even suggested we add a President’s Blog to our web site. He could write it, and I’d set it up for him. I blabbed about Facebook and LinkedIn and Twitter. Dear God, I blabbed about Twitter. I even walked him through setting up an account. I showed him how he could follow his guy, McCain.

I momentarily lost my freakin’ mind.

The result of which was me agreeing to give an HOUR LONG PRESENTATION at aforementioned conference. In two weeks. Me. The one who loathes public speaking of any sort.

End result? Not only did I commit the cardinal sin of farking with the blog/work balance by introducing my BOSS to my sacred, secret realm … I must now educate a legion of internet-challenged businessmen and women about the awesomeness of my After 5 World. And yes, by After 5 World, I most certainly DID mean the tuxedo rental place, thanks.

This blows goats.

My only saving grace? I managed to actually keep my mouth shut about MY blog and MY Twitter account. Sometimes the Blog Hog comes through.

Doogs Weekend #8: Don’t you forget about me.

Since the Dead Swingers post a few days ago I’ve had a question in mind for Doogs Weekend.

What do you think people will say about you after you’re gone? How do you hope to be remembered?
