There is no progress without change.

Tonight, I, along with nearly every other American with a television, am glued to the set — bearing witness to arguably one of this country’s most historic elections. As I write this, CNN has just predicted Obama to be our next president.

Tonight I am full of hope.

  1. Thrilling and amazing and wonderful!! I can’t wipe the grin off my face.

My two year old made a video for my blog today announcing who he was voting for…I woke him up to tell him that Mr. Obama was our next president – he whispered “Obama” and rolled over and went back to sleep.

  2. I’m overwhelmed right now. But I will sleep well tonight.

  3. I’m with you, babe… full of hope.

  4. How funny, I put my I Voted sticker on my daughter, too.

I guess that’s what this election represents most. Hope for our children.

  5. Rick's Cafe

Wonder if there will be a place in this new world society for moose hunting mastodons?

  6. I no longer have to move to Canada! I am full of excitement that I can’t show (at work) and I’m ready for whatever change comes.

  7. Me and the husb sat on the couch sobbing during his speech last night.

After they announced Obama the winner I had my nearly five- year-old look at the TV and I tried to say a few things to her so that hopefully, in the future, she will hold on to some memory of last night. She will be able to say that she remembers that historic moment.

My two year old? Jumping off the couch repeatedley and yelling Poo Poo Head! each time. So, not so much a historic moment for that one.

  8. LOL at Poo Poo Head!

I woke MP up when Obama was speaking and held her on the couch while together we watched.

  9. Oh, we do hope you were able to haul MP off to the nearest Starbucks, Krispy Kreme and other establishments offering freebies to those with a sticker! (There is not a Ben & Jerry’s here at the Preppy Planet, and we chose not to take advantage of the offers.)

We must acknowledge the darling photo of you and T.S. (The Senator, capitalized of course!) from the other day. You look faboo!

    Grins & Giggles,

So CWB and I sat on the Oprah bed and watched Obama win on the Oprah tv. CWB is very upset that none of our votes seemed to count as we live in the back of beyond. Go figure.

  11. When I was pregnant, I didn’t want to bring a child into a world filled with hate, fear manipulation and greed. Now, I’m grateful she can face the future, filled with hope.

  12. I’m so proud of us! I only wish Dr King or Coretta had lived to see this!

Now what is with I Voted stickers and freebies? Is this a California thing?

  13. A-men.

I couldn’t bear to see another poo poo head in office.

Hope, it feels so much better than anger.

  15. I give him so much credit for agreeing to take on the mess that is our economy, our war(s), and everything else we’ve managed to fumble in the last 4+ years (I heard today we have a TRILLION dollar national debt)!

    Hopeful and happy.
