More on the pest (outta) control front.

The filthy stinkin’ bastard mice in my car have smartened up. Usually I get one each night in a trap. Now, they bypass it completely and poo around the perimeter. Thankfully, I noticed their handiwork before hoisting MP into the car seat yesterday morning. Piles of stuffing and poo.

Totally at my wit’s end, I went to the ranch store for bait. However, I was advised against having it in the car, what with the heater and all. Not to mention a small child. This left just one alternative.

I’m trapping the muthas.

We’ll see what’s waiting in the morning. With any luck I’ll be able to relocate the whole family far, far away.

Cross your fingers.

  1. Okay, this is so gross! How are they getting in? Sure, you could trap the ones in there, but if it’s easy for new ones to find their way in, you’re not getting at the root of the problem.

I’m so frustrated for you! I hope your fancy-dancy new trap works.

  2. I hope your trap works! You may want to spread the bait around outside the car, so you don’t get new ones.

  3. lol good luck, I hope this trap works!

  4. Rick's Cafe

Turn off all the heat and open all the windows in the house…the mice will no longer want to live there.

…you can move in with me while we wait out the rodent dilemma :))

  5. Eeeeew. I really feel for you. Especially since they are nesting in MP’s car seat! Ick, ick, ick!!!

On other disgusting rodent news fronts, my neighbor just eradicated a raccoon from her attic. On my way outside to drag the trash to the end of the driveway this morning, I had a standoff with the displaced effer, who was eyeing my garage with envy. I stared him down while lowering the heavy door. When the door hit the ground, I drew my hand across my throat while the little effer watched, promising that this would be his fate if he even *thought* about roosting in my garage or attic.

Mommypie, I’m sorry to have to admit that we are mere squatters here on earth. The rodents will survive the nuclear winter and we will not.

  6. Srsly I would DIE. So gross. Good luck.

  7. So nasty! These are the ones that ate through your tampon box?

  8. Good luck with the trap. Or, I know you guys have allergy issues, but maybe reconsider a cat and keep it outside. It will get your mice.

Bikerchick – I wish death to all raccoons. They are evil and must be destroyed.

  9. Cats will hunt mice only if they were taught by their mothers to hunt mice. We’ve had plenty of useless cats who were raised without mothers and would probably let a mouse run across their backs without flinching. Mom’s a good mouser? In like Flynn.

Have MP draw some mean-looking cat pictures. Tape them to the undercarriage of your car. That way, even if the mice can’t read English they’ll get the message.

Plug in a sonic thingy out in the garage (it can’t hurt).

And maybe a looping tape of Bob Jovi would keep the rat bastards away. It’d keep ME away.

    Good luck!

  10. Mice ‘r gross, but that post cracked me up! The graphic was the clincher! You couldn’t leave out the little rat turds – it wouldn’t have worked so well!

I do hope you get that mouse issue under control. That has to suck!

  11. Me

That is a whole lot of yucky! I am so sorry you have to deal with that *bleep*!

  12. THAT’S what a modern mousetrap looks like? It’s so… high tech. It could be designed by Norman Foster, or something.

    Dude. Just get a cat.

  13. does the place offer massages and put chocolates on their pillows each night? perhaps that might entice them to come in. 🙂

  14. Finn

Have you thought about getting rid of the car???

  15. have your mechanic or somebody who knows what they’re doing under the hood vaccuum out the heat/AC ducts and check the nooks and crannies.
I had mouse nests in my ducts. (the horror) My mechanic was nice enough to do a FREE mouse check. He and his crew won donuts for life.
Mouse bait in the glove box helps too.
I.hate.mice. hatemhatemhatem. Creepy little nasty things.

  16. A friend of the families who works in pest control told me that mice in cars is not all that uncommon. Cars are warmer than the outside environment and more often than not, there are scraps of food under the seats and between the seat cushions.
